Étang de la Clarté
A Wild and Authentic Destination in Sarthe

Étang de la Clarté is a former wild gravel pit over 60 years old, located in western France, in the heart of the Sarthe region. Less than 45 minutes from the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, this site offers a peaceful and preserved setting, ideal for carp fishing enthusiasts in search of nature and tranquility.
Covering an area of 1.6 hectares, the lake features three developed double swims, each offering a different fishing configuration. Here, you fish in absolute calm, far from urban noise, with all the necessary comforts for an enjoyable and immersive stay.
The lake, with its turquoise-blue water benefits from specific maintenance to limit the growth of aquatic vegetation. The bottom varies between sand, gravel, silt, and shallow areas depending on the swim. The average depth is 2 meters, with areas ranging from 1 meter to 2.5–3 meters.
The fish stock consists of around 150 carp, including grass carp and koi carp, with specimens ranging from 6 kg to over 24 kg. You may come across beautiful fully scaled, linear, or large-scale carp.
Although the site is isolated, with no connection to running water or electricity, we have installed solar-powered facilities to ensure a basic level of comfort. On-site, you will find:
- Dry toilets
- Electricity to recharge your digital devices and bait boat batteries.
- A refrigerator available for use
Between swims 1 and 2, a communal area has been set up with a picnic table, barbecue, and a hut equipped with electricity and a refrigerator—perfect for sharing moments with friends or family.
